Things to Consider
- Also called “Yoke and Strap” anchors
- For use in new masonry walls
- For use during wall construction
- Anchor installs in jambs and is placed between courses of block wall
- Ships welded into throat of frame (back side of soffit in most cases)
- The one standard size is made to work for any jamb depth
- 1 anchor needed for each 30” of jamb (not used in head or sill)
- 16 gauge and 10 1/2 inches long
- Approved for use in fire rated walls up to 3 hours (180 minutes)
- Most trouble free anchor for new masonry walls
- Can not be lost in transit or on jobsites
- Also uses standard base anchor for fastening to floor before wall construction
Red Flags
- Is a little more expensive than wire anchors
- Jamb must be concrete filled for this anchor to be most effective
- Jamb depths over 10 ½” must receive 2 anchors (side by side) at each location
