Detention doors are made from 14 or 12 gauge steel and have high-security hinges, lock and strike, and other unique hardware preps .
HMF Express detention products conform to HMMA 863: GUIDE SPECIFICATIONS FOR DETENTION SECURITY HOLLOW METAL DOORS AND FRAMES, with these exceptions:
- 12 gauge maximum side channel
- Side channels run full height and continuously welded to top and bottom channels
- 11 gauge strike reinforcement
- Flexible conduit option only
- No test report on ASTM 1458 for impact, static load, door rack, and edge crush; also no test reports on this construction for UL-752 (bullet)
- Steel stiffeners spacing is 4″ and are spot welded in place on 3″ centers
