Closer reinforcing in hollow metal frame header

Closer Reinforcing

Closer reinforcing is a steel backing plate factory-installed in the frame header to support a surface-mounted door closer. Without proper reinforcing, repeated door closing cycles can cause fastener pull-through in lighter-gauge steel.

  • Steel backing plate welded in frame header
  • Supports regular arm and parallel arm configurations
  • ANSI/BHMA standard closer locations
  • Compatible with all major closer manufacturers
  • Available for single and pair frames
  • Required on fire-rated and high-traffic applications
