In 1989, HMF began manufacturing custom metal doors and frames. Based in Wilmington, NC, the company quickly established itself as the manufacturer with the shortest lead times in the industry, shrinking industry standard 4-6 week lead times into just a few days.
Twenty years later, HMF continues to set the standard for custom hollow metal with short lead times and innovative products. Now known as HMF Express, the company specializes in custom work, projects drop-shipped to construction sites, and orders shipped in seven days or less.

History
In 2006, the long-time managers of HMF Express purchased the North Carolina based commercial door factory from ThermaTru Corporation, the nation’s leading manufacturer of residential fiberglass and steel exterior door systems. This experienced management team continues to develop HMF Express' speed and service capabilities.
At the same time, HMF Express acquired the commercial product lines of BenchmarkHMF, a member of the Steel Door Institute (SDI). The Benchmark Commercial product lines included specialized embossed-pattern doors, split-jamb frames, and pre-hung door systems. These door systems were the choice of architects and specifiers for hotel, motel, and multifamily projects across the United States. The door and frame systems go by the product names AdjustaFit®, AdjustaTrim®, and SecurFit®. We continue to offer the embossed-pattern doors and frame systems today.
HMF Express today
Unique in the industry, HMF Express frames are finished with a tough thermo-set powder coated finish in primer-gray. Doors can be ordered with a grey baked-enamel primer coating.
